How much fat can be removed during liposuction?
Commonly, patients will come in for liposuction saying, “Well, how much fat can you remove?”
Commonly, it’s recommended that no more than five liters of fat is removed in any one setting, in an office or hospital-based setting. There are some surgeons that will do larger volume liposuctions, but I think for some patients that may not be safe. And so, I adhere to the guidelines recommended by the Plastic Surgery Society to limit each single procedure of liposuction to no more than five liters of fat.
