Ok, so now there are two companies that offer form-stable or what the public calls “Gummy Bear” implants. The implants come from Allergan in their 410 line and Sientra with their form stable line cohesive gel implants. I am sure Mentor will be getting approval soon for a line of their own as well. I am a bit on the fence about using some of the form stable products. I was never a big fan of the textured implants in the past because they seemed not to respond the same way as smooth implants, and because they were shaped I was always concerned that they could turn inside the pocket. However, I think that there should always be options with implants and this is just one more that can be offered to my patients so that they can make an informed decision.
